In the accounts of Antoine, a weather presenter earning 3,600 euros per month: "We do more than just show the sun on the map for three minutes!"

For nearly fifteen years, Antoine has been a weather presenter. From precarious contracts in local media to a permanent contract in a major national channel, he has seen his salary skyrocket. However, there is no question of leading the high life in Paris. The lover of the countryside prefers to spend his money otherwise.
By Lucile DescampsHe calls the shots, or almost. For nearly 15 years, Antoine ( not his real name ) has been a weather presenter . A subject that has always fascinated him and in which he was able to immerse himself many years ago, with the beginning of social networks, "thanks to a community of enthusiasts quite present online". After his degree in geography and regional planning, he had two choices to turn his passion into a career. Become a forecasting engineer , which involves "sitting behind a computer to predict the weather and develop models", or turn to the media. "What interested me was really popularization", remembers the man who is now 35 years old. So it will be the second option.
The environment is quite closed, the number of positions is limited, and Antoine makes a precarious start in local radio and television stations in the west of France, where he comes from. Although he knows a lot about meteorology, the training to become a presenter is done on the job. Thanks to luck and good visibility on social networks, he is quickly hired at La Chaîne Météo, a television channel only available on boxes, "a fairly classic path" in the industry.
